Using Your Brain…For a Change!
Creating a Success Mindset for Thriving
Through Tough Times
Less than 10%. That’s how little of the magnificent
capacity of our brain that most of us use. That’s because
most of us have never learned how the brain operates and more
importantly how we can use that knowledge to engage the other
90%. In this fun-filled, exciting and interactive program,
Barrett explains some basic neurophysiology and some simple,
yet profound ways that participants can practically apply
that knowledge. These strategies will help participants to
conquer challenges, compete in rapidly changing arenas and
remain resourceful and resilient in turbulent times. For employers,
supervisors and managers, this translates into greater productivity,
less attrition and maximum results from employees. For employees,
this translates into greater goal attainment, increased creativity
and enhanced self-esteem. Using the tools shared in this presentation,
salespeople can sell more effectively, customer service reps
can interact more effectively with customers, administrators
can accomplish more with less stress and managers can lead
more effectively.
This 45-90 minute concurrent
session is an ideal companion to Linda’s keynote entitled
“Conquering the Challenges of Change & All That
Jazz!”
Leading by Example…Not by Words!
Non-Verbal Communication Skills for
Successful Leaders
If communication is a dance, then according to Peter Drucker,
sometimes referred to as the "Father of American Management",
most of us have two left feet. He claims that the majority
of all problems in any organization can be attributed to poor
communication skills. This leads to misunderstandings, lost
deals and conflict. With humorous illustrations, Barrett explains
how and why these breakdowns occur and what can be done to
remedy the situation. Luckily, as with dance steps, the steps
to effective communication can be learned. This program is
a dance lesson for those that want to learn the elegant art
of effective communication with an emphasis on developing
nonverbal communication skills. Research has proven that words
account for only a small percentage of the meaning of communication,
yet most people pay attention solely to words and are completely
oblivious to the nonverbal messages that they are sending
and receiving all day long. This fact greatly hinders most
people’s ability to create the kind of rapport that
leads to lasting relationships. Linda was originally motivated
to study the art of nonverbal communication in order to communicate
more effectively with her son, Andy, who is unable to communicate
with words. She quickly realized how much her heightened awareness
of nonverbal signals improved her ability to communicate and
thus build better relationships both in business and her personal
life. In this highly interactive program, Linda will demonstrate
some unique and effective techniques to help attendees lead
successfully by developing better communication skills which
will lead to winning relationships that last!
This 45-90 minute session can easily
be expanded into a ½ day, full day or multi-day session
on communication or can be delivered as a concurrent session
in conjunction with Linda’s keynotes entitled “Leading
and Communicating With Honor” or “Selling with
Courage and Conviction”
Juggling Through Chaos & All That Jazz!
Juggling Secrets of Successful Performers
Projects, deadlines, disasters, soccer, ballet lessons,
the school play…balancing the demands of work and family has become
a real juggling act. The Women’s Bureau of the U.S. Department
of Labor conducted a survey of more than 250,000 working women of every
income level, job category and family scenario, and found that for working
women with children at home, the number one challenge was the struggle
to juggle the simultaneous demands of career and family. And it’s
not just a gender issue. Men, particularly single fathers, concur. In
fact, the number one priority for 78% of all workers is balancing work
and personal life. For many of us, it seems as though life is a non-stop,
uncontrollable downpour of demands. 56% agree with the statement, “I
arrange my personal life to fit my work life.” The ever-growing,
competing pressures of work and home take their toll on people’s
bodies and minds and that can have an adverse affect their ability to
perform to their potential. It seems that most people agree that juggling
multiple roles and responsibilities is a universal challenge. However,
while it is a formidable challenge, it is not an unconquerable challenge
because we all know or have heard about people who seem to do it with
effortless elegance. In this lighthearted, interactive session, Linda
shares some lessons she has learned about how to juggle effectively—both
literally and figuratively!—and some of the secrets of highly
successful performers that allow them to juggle with excellence
This 45-90 minute concurrent session
is ideal for a light after lunch program at a convention
or on a retreat for stressed out professionals.
